World day of remembarance for road traffic victims 2022
As every year, the objectives of WDoR 2022 are to provide a platform for road traffic victims and their families to:
• Remember all people killed and seriously injured on the roads;
• Acknowledge the crucial work of the emergency services;
• Draw attention to the generally trivial legal response to culpable road deaths and injuries and advocate for an appropriately serious response;
• Advocate for better support for road traffic victims and victim families;
• Promote evidence-based actions to prevent and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries
Parkside Road Safety awareness in partnership with other organizations marked this day in a special way in Kajiado County Kitengela bus stop, bringing together all Sacco, boda boda and pedestrians.
A medical camp was conducted by Equity Afia, Fountain of Hope Pearl Recovery, and Kitengela medical among other. The aim of the medical camp was to bring services to transport sector personnel near their work place. Most of the driver’s rare get checked their wellbeing.
During this period we had to major day with different activities on 19th November had the pre activity which brought together various hospitals conducting a medical camp and blood donation drive
On 20th which was the official World day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victim, we were conducting different activities, starting with a walk that brought together different stakeholders the driving schools, primary schools, Sacco, government institutions.
After the walk we had the candle lighting ceremony where all participant light a candle to remember all that have died through road accidents also observed a moment of silence.
On these day we had road accidents victims who gave testimonies and experiences they have had during and after the accidents. These year WDR theme being JUSTICE they were able to be open if justice was served to them.
The event was crowned by senior government people County Commander Kajiado County, OCS Kitengela, Base commander, NTSA regional manager kajiado chiefs and other partners
